Identification

Distribution

Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Woodland, savanna and cultivated land with scattered trees. Generally at altitudes of between 1200 and 1500 m.

Behaviour

Occurs in pairs or small groups. Diet includes fruit, seeds and invertebrates.

Status

Classified as Near Threatened in the 2007 IUCN Red List (BirdLife International, 2008) due to habitat loss and low population density in much of its range.
