Identification

34cm. Green upperparts, grey wing, bright red below and patches of blue skin on face. The female has a brown face, purplish green plumage, blue circle around each eye and duller red below.

Distribution

Sierra Leone to eastern South Africa.

Behaviour

It nests in tree hollows.

The diet includes insects and small invertebrates.
