Haematopus meadewaldoi
Distribution: Canary Is (Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Graciosa); probably extinct
Description: 43 cm, all black with red eye and orange eye-ring and bill. Looks like H. moquini but has shorter wings and longer bill.
Habitat: rocky shores
Food: unknown, but probably similar to that of other oystercatchers
Status: almost certainly extinct, last record in 1913 altough there was a record of 2 birds in 1965.
