Description

Blakish upperparts,narrow white streak on wings,reddish maroon rump,black breast band separating reddish maroon throat patch and underparts together with blue maxilla and yellow mandible diagnostic.Juvenile-Throat and breast grey-brown.From juvenile Banded Broadbill by lack of yellow on upperparts.Voice-Short and coarse grating notes similar to cicades. Also a brief rising trill like Black and Yellow Broadbill but shorter and softer.Sise-25cm.

Distribution & Taxonomy

Myanmar and southern Indo-china through Malay Peninsular to Sumatra,Bangka,Belitung and Borneo.

Habitat

Forests,Forest edges,plantations and mangroves fringes.
