Identification

19·5–21 cm (7¾-8¼ in) Red frons, white underparts with pinkish wash on belly and black thighs are diagnostic.

Distribution

Africa: Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi.

Habitat

Riverine woodland and forest edge and adjacent cultivation.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet has been little recorded but appears to consist of fruit, such as figs, berries, seeds, and flying insects.
