Identification
21 cm
- Green upperside with few yellow specs
- Olive-yellow forehead, yellow auriculars and brownish-yellow crown
- Yellow throat and breast, with dark green scalloping
- Yellow-green flanks to undertail coverts
- Yellow-green underwing coverts
- Red bill
- Blueish eye-ring
- Red eye
Distribution
South-east Asia: found on Sulawesi in Indonesia.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly included in Yellow-and-green Lorikeet together with Sula Lorikeet.
Formerly placed in genus Trichoglossus.
Habitat
Forests mostly in hilly areas but can occur both higher and lower elevation; sometimes seen in more open areas.
Behaviour
Mostly seen in flocks when searching for flowering trees.
Diet
Their natural diet consists of blossoms, particularly from Erythrina and Euphorbia.
