Identification

24 cm
Male

  • Green upperparts
  • Lighter green underparts
  • Brownish streaks on crown and nape
  • Green ear-coverts
  • Streaked throat and malar areas

Distribution

Asia: China
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia

Taxonomy

Sometimes placed in the genus Megalaima.

Habitat

Lower ground in the evergreen, semi-evergreen and mixed deciduous forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of fruit, such as figs, berries. It is also thought that they eat insects.
