• Dark olive brown above
• Warm rusty brown below
• Matt grey head
• Indistinct black line below eye
• Dark brown bare skin round eyes
• Purple and violet iridescent hindneck and nape
• Rusty breast and upper belly
• Brown vent
• Bronze brown tail with dark grey terminal band
• Grey undertail-coverts
• Red orange iris
• Purple red legs
• Black bill

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• P. c. brunneiceps:

• South-eastern Philippines (Mindanao and Basilan)

• P. c. cinereiceps:

• Tawitawi (Sulu Archipelago)

brunneiceps is sometimes accepted as full species, Mindanao Brown Dove^[2].

Habitat

Mangroves and lowland forests.
