Identification
Green-olive back, white streaking on the cheeks and ears, pale to bright yellow underparts, reddish brown tone on the chin and throat, dark eyes. The young birds are similar but duller.

E Australia.

Habitat
Open forests, woodlands and shrublands dominated by Casuarinas, Acacias or paperbarks, parks and gardens.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects and some seeds.
Females build a rounded domed nest of grasses and bark, lined with feathers, fur or soft plant down, with a narrow, hooded entrance near the top. The female incubates the eggs alone, but both parents (and possibly helpers) feed the young.
