Identification

20cm. All black-blue body, amber eyes, dark bill.

Distribution

East Mexico (Yucatán Peninsula) and N Honduras.

Taxonomy

Monotypic, no subspecies[1].

Habitat

Forests, thick brush and hedges.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes seeds. berries and fruits.

Breeding

It builds a bulky cup nest of twigs and grass, placed in dense bushes and small trees. 2 greenish-blue eggs are laid.
