Identification
20-26cm. Olive brown upperparts, bright chestnut lower back and rump, white belly, grey brown tail, brown iris, black bill, grey legs. Male - white eyebrow and malar streak, black lores, chin, throat and breast, grey flanks. Female - dull white eyebrow and malar streak, dark olive brown lores, grey chin, throat, breast and flanks.

There are 4 subspecies.
Habitat
Arid areas, low shrubs, dry woodland and heath.
Behaviour
The diet includes invertebrates such as grasshoppers, beetles, flies, caterpillars, ants, seeds and berries.
It nests in a depression in the ground which is lined with bark, grass and twigs.
