28 cm. Black, purple-crimson back and shoulders, white head and breast, black crown, black postocular stripe. Juveniles - dark rust-brown.

Habitat
Moist lowland forests, mangrove forests, montanes, moist shrubland, brushy ravines, and plantations.
Behaviour
The diet includes seeds, worms and small snails.
It makes its nest in deep forest; 1 egg is laid.
