Identification

Distribution

Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand.

Taxonomy

There are four subspecies:

  • B. j. affinis
  • B. j. continentalis
  • B. j. javensis
  • B. j. chaseni

B. j. affinis and B. j. continentalis are considered a separate species, (Blyth's Frogmouth B. affinis) by Sibley & Monroe (1993, 1996) and BirdLife (2008).
