Taxonomy

Estrilda quartinia has four subspecies:²

• E. q. bocagei

• Western Angola
• Regarded as a subspecies of Swee Waxbill by some³; may be a separate species⁴.

• E. q. quartinia
• E. q. kilimensis
• E. q. stuartirwini

This taxon is lumped with Swee Waxbill E. melanotis by some authorities.¹
