Taxonomy

Estrilda quartinia has four subspecies:1

  • E. q. bocagei
  • E. q. quartinia
  • E. q. kilimensis
  • E. q. stuartirwini

Formerly separated as East African Swee or Yellow-bellied Waxbill Estrilda melanotis quartinia is now usually lumped with Estrilda melanotis.
