Identification

Distribution

Argentina and Chile north of the Bio-Bio River.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Habitat

Temperate forests and forest edges, where the bamboo Chusquea culeou (Coligüe) can be found between large trees, which are needed for nesting cavities.
