Yellow-bellied Prinia - BirdForum Opus

Identification

13cm. Slate grey head, olive green upperparts, white throat and breast, yellow belly, narrow long tail, sometimes white eyebrows, red eye. Sexes similar. Juvenile: Upperparts brown, tail tip white, yellow underparts.

Distribution

Pakistan, Borneo, Java and Singapore.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Low bushes and tall grasses, reeds and sedges and scrubland.

Behaviour

They nest at the base of tall grass in a untidy loose ball nest build from grasses or leaves wrapped around tall stems. 3-4 reddish chestnut eggs are laid, with a band or cap of richer colour at the broader end.

The diet includes insects.
