Taxonomy

Formerly lumped within White-striped Forest Rail (R. leucospila).

  • R. f. steini - New Guinea (Weyland Mts. to Bismarck Mts.)
  • R. f. parva - NE New Guinea (Mt. Mengam in Adelbert Range)
  • R. f. dryas - SE New Guinea (Huon Peninsula)
  • R. f. forbesi - SE New Guinea (Herzog Mts. to Owen Stanley Mts.)

Montane forests.
