Identification
Outer tail feather shaft and recquets 30cm or more.Black plumage with blue-black gloss.Tail forked slightly with outer tail feather shafts ending in spoon-shaped raquets..some times worn or missing.Short crest on forehead.Size-32cm.
Distribution
Indian subcontinent,south of China thro S.E.A to Greater Sunda.

Behaviour
Found usually in the middle storey. Like most drongos, hawks after insects from open perches. A superb mimic of the calls of other birds but always has a metallic sound. If territorial, is aggressive and will mob intruders, even large raptors and hornbills.
