Status of Huayco Tinamou maculicollis

Some authorities (Sibley & Monroe, 1996; SACC, 2008) treat Huayco Tinamou (maculicollis) as a full species citing evidence of substantial vocal differences (Maijer, 1996). However, Clements (2007) and Howard & Moore (2003) retain it as a subspecies of rufescens and the Opus follows in this consensus.
