  • Mainly black plumage
  • Light rufous back
  • Black legs
  • Short bill
  • Dark iris

Distribution

South America: found in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Considered a subspecies of Austral Negrito by some authors[2]

Habitat

Montane lakes, streams and marshes.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists almost entirely of small insects.
