30-31cm

  • Bright red plumage
  • Darker red back and wings
  • Red-orange bill
  • Grey skin round eyes
  • Grey legs
  • Black feet

Distribution

Australasia: found in the lowlands of Solomon Islands and Bismarck Archipelago.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Mangroves and lowland forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes fruit.

Breeding

The eggs are white and are incubated by the female.
