Identification
Distribution & Taxonomy
Carnaby's Cockatoo range across the south-west corner of the Australia, from Kalbarri to Esperance. Due to land clearing on the wheatbelt populations are now patchy and suitable breeding areas are reduced.
Habitat
The Carnaby Cockatoo nests in vertical tree hollows - usually found in old wandoo or marri woodland. They feed on the seeds of proteaceous heath plants and have also adapted to feeding on pine nuts on plantations on the Perth coastal plain.
