Identification

28 cm

  • Orange bill
  • Red basic plumage
  • Black crown to nape
  • Blackish markings on side of neck
  • Green wings and tail
  • Yellow bib
  • Bluish thighs

Distribution

East Solomon Islands.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and montanes. Coconut plantations. Found at all levels.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of pollen, nectar, fruit and small seeds. They also feed on caterpillars.
