Overview
Mustang Island State Park, an almost 4,000 acres/1618 hectare unit of the Texas Parks and Wildlife, is on a barrier island between the Gulf of Mexico to the east and Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Bay to its west. It's south of Port Aransas, east of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, and north of Padre Island National Seashore.
It has a wide variety of amenities and habitats with over 5 miles/ 8 km of coastline. The area is rich with birding opportunities, as evidenced by a large number of eBird Hotspots, as shown on eBird's Hotspot map, in the park proper, and the surrounding area.
The park offers Ranger programs on birding and other subjects, from time to time depending on the prevailing situation and regulations in effect at a particular time.
