Southern Africa: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal
Middle East: Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Open-canopy oakwoods, olive groves, orchards and almond plantations.
Behaviour
They construct a deep-cup nest from grass, plant stems and twigs. It is placed in a low tree or bush. The clutch contains 3-4 eggs.
Diet
They appear to eat insects, with the addition of fruits, berries and figs in the summer.
