Tolmomyias sulphurescens

Identification

Olive above, grey head, white lores and a narrow eye-ring, dark wings with yellow edging and two yellow wing-bars, flat bill, black above and pale below, pale throat, olive breast, pale yellow belly.

Distribution

From Oaxaca in Mexico through Central America and South America except Chile and most of Argentina.

Taxonomy

16 subspecies are recognized[1].

Habitat

Woodland and riversides.

Behaviour

It builds a hanging nest which can be conspicuous and consists of a retort-like nest chamber with a long entrance tube attached to the side.
