Carduelis notata

Location: Guatemala City

Identification

Male - black head and chest, black shoulders, golden yellow upperparts and underparts.
Female - similar to male but lacks the black chest.

Distribution

Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

Taxonomy

There are 3 subspecies:

  • C. n. notata
  • C. n. forreri
  • C. n. oleacea

Habitat

Moist montanes between 2000-3000m.
