Identification
13 cm. Conical, slightly downcurved bill, grey-brown above, white below with pink bill and feet. Juvenile has bold white eye-ring.
Distribution
Island of Kauai, Hawaii.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Wet montane forests.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects, larvae, and spiders. It possesses a tongue that is specially designed for extracting insects from crevices in bark.
It builds a simple open-cup nest between March and May in ohi'a trees.
