Amaurornis moluccana

Also known as Rufous-tailed Waterhen

Identification

Distribution

Northern Australia, New Guinea, and several surrounding groups of islands including the Moluccas

Taxonomy

This species has four subspecies: moluccana, nigrifrons, ultima, and ruficrissa. Rufous-tailed Bush-hen was previously considered to be a part of Plain Bush-hen, and some authorities still think that is the correct treatment.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.
