Identification

30–32 cm (11¾-12½ in)

  • Bill: yellow, with pale blue flashes
  • Green upperparts
  • Grey wing
  • Bright red underparts
  • Patches of blue skin on face

Female': brown face, purplish green plumage, blue circle around each eye and duller red underparts.

Distribution

Sierra Leone to eastern South Africa.
