Identification

Distribution

Endemic to the Philippines, where it is found on most of the main islands.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Found in a wide variety of habitats from grassland, mixed cultivation, second growth, and forest up to 2000 m, alone or in pairs.

Behaviour

Like other coucals, shy and not easy to see except when perched in open on top of grass or small tree. Has floppy flight and skulks through dense vegetation. Breeding recorded in May and June.
