Small passerines exhibiting fairly typical White-eye behaviour. See below for detailed description

Distribution

Halmahera and other islands in the northern Moluccas, Indonesia.

Taxonomy

Morotai White-eye was formerly included in Cream-throated White-eye.

The subspecies may be elevated as follows: fuscifrons as Halmahera White-eye, and atriceps as Bacan White-eye.

Subspecies

Clements recognizes these subspecies[1]:

  • Z. a. fuscifrons: "Halmahera White-eye". Halmahera
  • Z. a. atriceps: "Bacan White-eye".

A population on Obi belongs together with the birds on Bacan or to an undescribed (sub)species.

Habitat

Lowland Forest.
