Identification
18–20 cm (7-7¾ in)
- Yellow throat
- Dark grey lores and cheeks
Distribution
Western Africa: found in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Zaire
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- C. f. viridescentior:
- Southern Cameroon (River Ja region)
- C. f. falkensteini:
- Southern Central African Republic to Rio Muni, south-western Democratic Republic of the Congo and northern Angola
Habitat
Riparian woodland and thickets. Secondary growth and patches of forest.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists mostly of fruit, such as figs and small peppers. Some insects are also taken.
