Identification
13–14 cm (5-5½ in)
- Narrow white supercilium
- Yellowish-brown breast
Similar Species
Rusty-breasted Wheatear, which has a broader supercilium.
Distribution
Western and Eastern Africa: found from Mauritania to Mali, Cameroon, Sudan, Ethiopia and north-western Kenya
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
This taxon is considered the same species as Buff-breasted Wheatear and Rusty-breasted Wheatear in the past.
Habitat
Short grassy areas in stony ground or boulder-strewn slopes.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists almost entirely of insects. Outside the breeding season they forage in small groups.
Breeding
Their cupshaped nest is constructed from grass. They may have two broods each year.
