Taxonomy
This species formerly included Short-tailed Akalat.
Subspecies
Clements recognizes three subspecies[1].
- S. b. bocagei:
- Western highlands of Angola
- S. b. ilyai:
- Western Tanzania (east of Mount Kungwe)
- S. b. chapini:
- South-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and north-central Zambia
Habitat
Lowland and montane forests and swamps.
