Identification

Similar to Scrub Robins but has much narrower white "eyebrows" and no white in the wings, and resembles a Spotted Ground Thrush.

Distribution

Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Subspecies intercalans.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

Clements recognises the following subspecies [1]:

  • C. g. guttata: eastern South Sudan and southwestern Ethiopia to northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, northern Uganda, and northwestern Kenya (west of Lake Turkana)
  • C. g. intercalans: southern Ethiopia to central Kenya and central Tanzania
  • C. g. rufipennis: Littoral of southern Somalia to east Kenya and east Tanzania (Dar-es-Salaam)

Dry forests, dry savanna, and moist shrubland.
