Identification

A distinctive Sparrow-Lark due to the adult male's white crown patch (this varies in size between individuals and may not be visible).

Similar Species

Similar to Fischer's Sparrow-Lark. This differs as follows:

  • crown all chestnut
  • nape chestnut without white (Chestnut-headed has a white patch at the nape and dark surround to the white ear patch is incomplete
  • Fischer's appears less neat than Chestnut-headed as the brown colours tend to bleed into the white.
