Small passerines exhibiting fairly typical White-eye behaviour. See below for detailed description

Distribution

Halmahera and other islands in the northern Moluccas, Indonesia.

Taxonomy

The subspecies may be elevated as follows: dehaani ("Morotai White-eye", Z. dehaani), fuscifrons ("Halmahera White-eye", Z. fuscifrons) and atriceps ("Bacan White-eye", Z. atriceps).

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies [1] which may be best tested as separate species [2]:

  • Z. a. dehaani: "Morotai White-eye". Morotai
  • Z. a. fuscifrons: "Halmahera White-eye". Halmahera
  • Z. a. atriceps: "Bacan White-eye".

The population on Obi belongs to an undescribed (sub)species.

Habitat

Lowland Forest.
