Myrmotherula assimilis

Identification

Grey, pale underparts and 2 white wing-bars. White patch on back and a narrow white tip to its tail. The female is pale olive-grey above with 2 buffy wing-bars.

Distribution

Amazonian Brazil, Peru and Bolivia.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized[1].

  • M. a. assimilis - river islands and river edge of western Amazonia: Amazon of Peru (east from the lower Marañón River), Amazonian Brazil (Amazon east to the Amazonas–Pará border, also the Madeira River and the lower portions of Negro, Juruá, and Purus rivers), and northern Bolivia (lower Beni River and Guaporé River)
  • M. a. transamazonica - Amazonian Brazil, along the Amazon River in extreme western Pará (east to the mouth of the Tapajós River)
