Three subspecies accepted:
- G. e. erythronota on Sulawesi
- G. e. kabaena on Kabaena Island
Red-and-black Thrush was formerly included in this species.
Formerly placed in genus Zoothera.
Habitat
Subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and plantations.
