Identification
17·5–18 cm (6¾-7)
Male
- Glossy bluish-black head
- Short busy crest
- White base of primaries visible in flight
Distribution
South America: found in eastern Brazil (north-eastern Bahia and Alagoas to north-eastern Rio Grande do Sul)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Cloud forest. Usually seen near trees or shrubs in grassy or rocky areas at heights around 1800–2700 m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects.
