Identification

17·5–18 cm (6¾-7)
Male

  • Glossy bluish-black head
  • Short busy crest
  • White base of primaries visible in flight

Distribution

South America: found in eastern Brazil (north-eastern Bahia and Alagoas to north-eastern Rio Grande do Sul)

This is a monotypic species[1].
