Identification

13 - 14cm. A small Vanga with a tit-like appearance:

Male

  • Grey forehead to nape
  • Black patch from base of bill extending backwards broadly around eye with narrow white border above
  • Grey upperparts with rufous rump and rufous uppertail-coverts
  • Rufous median and lesser upperwing-coverts
  • Rufous tail
  • White cheek and ear-coverts
  • Black chin and throat
  • Black eye
  • White underparts
