Identification
13 - 14cm. A small Vanga with a tit-like appearance:
Male
- Grey forehead to nape
- Black patch from base of bill extending backwards broadly around eye with narrow white border above
- Grey upperparts with rufous rump and rufous uppertail-coverts
- Rufous median and lesser upperwing-coverts
- Rufous tail
- White cheek and ear-coverts
- Black chin and throat
- Black eye
- White underparts

During breeding season in pairs, outside in small groups or in mixed-species flocks with Common Jery, Stripe-throated Jery, Sakalava Weaver, other Vangas, Crested Drongo or Madagascar Cuckooshrike.
