Calamanthus cautus has four subspecies:
- C. c. macrorhyncha
- Central New South Wales
- C. c. cauta
- Eyre Peninsula and Flinders Ranges to north-western Victoria and adjacent New South Wales
- C. c. halmaturina
- Kangaroo Island (South Australia)
- C. c. whitlocki
- South-central Western Australia
Habitat
Shrubby vegetation.
