16–18 cm (6¼-7 in)

  • Small, crestless head

Distribution

South America: found on the east slope of the Andes in southernmost Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and north-western Argentina

Taxonomy

Small-headed Elaenia was split from Highland Elaenia

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Found in the undergrowth and edges of humid forests and secondary woodlands.

Behaviour

Diet

They are usually to be found just below the tree tops on outer branches. Their diet consists of insects and berries.

Breeding

They make a cup-shaped nest about 8-9 cm dia.
