Identification

13cm. Dark brown with yellowish underside.

Larger and darker than Large-billed Scrubwren which has different behavior.

Distribution

Atherton region in north-eastern Queensland, Australia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[2].

Habitat

Mountain rainforests (above 700m)^[3].

Behaviour

Breeding takes place from September (sometimes July) to January and nesting is low to the ground.

Feeding on low branches or on the ground, the diet includes insects and snails. This species normally is solitary or in pairs.
