Western Africa: found from Angola to Namibia.
Taxonomy
Sometimes placed in the genus Ammomanes.
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized1:
- A. g. hoeschi:
- A. g. grayi:
- Western Namibia (Cape Cross to southern edge of Namib Desert)
Habitat
Deserts, gravelly plains and salt flats.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consist mostly of seeds and insects.
