Identification
Male
- Crimson cap
- Black facial mask
- Pale greyish-white bill
- White marks on the back and tertials
- Black band across white underparts
- Lower belly becoming yellowish
- Red undertail coverts
- Cinnamon throat
Female - darker throat and all-black crown.
Distribution
South America: found in western Amazonian Brazil south to eastern Bolivia and west-central Mato Grosso.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Moist lowland forests.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes fruits. Often found feeding in mixed flocks.
