Identification
Red and black, yellow mantle on neck, light green mouth, blue feet and two curved violet tail feathers, naked blue head with black double cross pattern on it. The female is a brownish bird with bare blue crown.
Distribution
Islands of Papua New Guinea
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species; some authorities place it in genus Diphyllodes, resulting in scientific name Diphyllodes respublica.
Habitat
Hill and lowland rainforests.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruits and small insects.
